DealerTalk 2014: Another Massive Line-up in Toronto – March 4th

Join hundreds of car dealers and automotive professionals as we celebrate the second annual DealerTalk Conference, sponsored and hosted by Kijiji Autos this March.

After such a successful event last March, how on earth was I going to be able to top last years’ speaking line-up? I spent the summer of 2013 with this on my mind and drafted up my dream team. Kind of like fantasy football right?

The format of Canada’s most popular Automotive Conference DealerTalk, is a 1 day, 5 speaker jam.

No big vendor pitches, no tradeshow floor, and my favorite…. Ticket prices that won’t give your owner a heart attack.

To this day I still don’t understand how we are able to throw an event like this with an early bird price of $99. If you haven’t already figured it out… this is conference isn’t too concerned on ROI.

The idea is to give back to the dealers who are 100% responsible for our success and help them get through the murky waters of doing business in the Internet age.

Here is the Dream Team:

Jeff Kershner – Mobile Workflow: The Showroom Processes of the Future!

I discovered the DealerRefresh forums in 2009 and can honestly say it has been the single most important online resource I have discovered in my career. When Kershner (founder of DealerRefresh) agreed to venture up to Canada, and speak to our dealers I knew we were going to top last year’s event.

Ever heard of showrooming? You know, when you go into Best Buy and look for a cheaper TV on eBay or Amazon? This is happening in your dealership today and Jeff has a counter attack that a majority of dealers haven’t thought of… or implemented.

Jay Baer – Youtility – Why Smart Marketing Is About Help Not Hype

After reading YouTility in 2009 it occurred to me that not a lot of dealers I was talking to were taking this new approach to their marketing.

One of my favorite stories of a business using YouTility was Taxi Mike from Banff. I love this story because I can remember reading these helpful guides that Mike prints out when I was there skiing. Tourists from around the world rely on Mike’s easy to read reviews on best restaurants, nightclubs, and adventures to try while you are in the Rocky Mountains.

Oh yeah, who do you think all these readers call when they need a cab? You guessed it, Taxi Mike.

Jay is going to blow the roof of the Four Seasons in Toronto.

Paul Potratz – You Could Be Wasting Thousands On Digital Marketing

Paul is the only returning speaker from last year’s conference. Why did we bring him back? After the conference we surveyed the 400 attendees on their favorite speaker and Paul was #1. Let’s face it, Canadians love Paul Portatz. My notebook is always full after his performances.

Theo Fleury –  Don’t Quit Before The Miracle

What would a DealerTalk conference be without some serious lunch time entertainment? Ex Stanley Cup and Gold Medal Winner, Theo Fleury is going to be quite the draw as he shares funny behind the scenes stories of life in the NHL.

His topic also gives our attendees a front row seat for what is what like on top, the crash, and his winning comeback. Looking for a great read? His book “Playing With Fire” is in my top 10.

Jason Craine –  Top 10 Things To Implement In Your Dealership in 2014

Jason is the Dealer Principal of Mills Buick GMC in Oshawa, ON. I have known Jason for 4 years and have watched him transform his dealerships digital strategy and culture into what he coined “Whatever It Takes”.

I knew that Jason had to be our local speaker and am so excited that he agreed to it. His segment will be no-fluff tactical breakdown on what has worked in his store and what can work in yours too!
