jeff.kershner Reynolds & Reynolds buys The Cobalt Group and Whos Calling?

Posted by Jeff Kershner  |  Wednesday, December 20, 2006  |  Posted in Latest News & Trends

I just heard through a source that Reynolds & Reynolds (ReyRey) or UCS (Universal Computer Systems) whatever name they were going by, has bought or acquired The Cobalt Group AND Who’s Calling.

I heard they will drop the Cobalt name and go by "The Reynolds Company" ??

I would think they could potentially own the majority of the market. What will they do with the wonderful Nitra platform websites?

I’ll be sure to post something official once I get a solid word.

*Yes..this could be just a rumour!!

It does not seem like this is happening. No one at Cobalt has hear about this yet, nor any new…

Might want to check with your sources.

I would like to know as well who the “source” is, or if it’s just another rumor that seems to pop up every few months.

  • Jeff

I never said this was 100%. “I just heard through a source – I’ll be sure to post something once I get an official word on this”

This is why I don’t usually post something like this…but I did hear it from a good source. You never know…lets wait and see.

If you’re not 100%, then why make such an irresponsible post? That rumor has been going around for a few years. That would be like me calling the dealer you work for and asking for a refrence, because you’ve applied for a job with another dealer.

    RX,

Thanks for participating with your comments.

I do need to take a moment to defend myself. I never said that my posting was 100% correct. I merely stated that I had heard this from a reliable resource. AND would post again if and when I received the official word.

I would not constitute this as a “irresponsible post”, it was something that I heard and I do have the write to post it. From there one can take my posting and have their personal opinion about it, such as you have done.

Please remember, this is a my personal BLOG and not NBC News.

Maybe next time you participate with your comments, you wont have to hide behind an alias email address and name?

I can’t speak for Cobalt, but can say with 100% certainty that Who’s Calling was in fact purchased by UCS/Reynolds in December. As an employee of that company, I can most definitely confirm it!

    Thanks Jeff!

As a prior employee of Reynolds and Reynolds I cant state facts about the Cobalt buy-out but I can express my deepest sympathies for the current and employees at the new Reynolds and Reynolds Company. Back a few years ago I was a Field Service Technician with USC and after about 12 months of constant torture and verbal abuse hurled my way because I was the field “representative” for Universal Computer Services. After getting my tongue ripped out for going to my supervisor with customer complaints and trying to resolve them I decided to call it quits and make a move in a different direction. After about 10 years working with 2 of the major DMS providers I have had enough of that game and needed to move on to bigger and better things. I recently came to my senses and took a position at a local dealership group and I could have never made a better decision.
