On a side note, I am really sorry if there seems to have been a lack of posts from myself here lately. My only excuse is that I have been swamped. I promise to get back on the trail here. Thanks to Alex for picking up my slack (humm, I think I’ve said that one before).

Another side note, it was about 9 years ago when I was selling vdubs for Sharrett Volkswagen. Every VW I sold, I would take a photo of the new owner and their Volkswagen and would publish their photo on my “vwrep.com” website under a “drivers found” section. I also had vinyl stickers made with the vwrep.com URL and placed the sticker on the back corner winder of every Volkswagen I sold.

Today, I had paid a visit to the dealer to get an estimate on some bumper damage. As I was looking out the window, I saw a Jetta with one of those damn vwrep.com stickers STILL in the back corner window. Boy did that bring a smile to my face, so I took a photo of it. I sold that car over 8 years ago! I thought that was neat and worthy of a quick note.

I've never stayed in one place long enough to see something I did 8 years prior (or even 3)

Damn..he didn't fool around either. Owns that puppy for 7 years out. That's almost funny really. I did a whois on vwrep.com a while back and someone overseas had it. Not sure why anyone would really want the URL. It's not something I would use over, though it did have some sticking power.

Will, if you are reading this I would recommend at least forwarding the URL to Sharrett.com. Hell, who knows how many other Volkswagens are cruising around with the sticker still on there. LOL.

Well, If I were Will I would have done the same thing. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Will Perryman and the Sharrett Automotive group. They run a tight ship and I would never hesitate to do business nor work for them again if path went down that road.

Will, if your reading this and you need help forwarding the URL to Sharrett.com, let me know and I'll step you though the process.

it might make a good microsite....ehhh?
C
Domain names with that much history and that "early on" (in web years) registration can really help you out with SE's. The longer a domain name has been active the better, and vwrep looks like it goes back to early 2001:
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.vwrep.com

@Chip

Agreed, but I think vwrep.com has lost all of it's juice since the it's has been inactive for so long.

Oh no...you brought out the archive!! Too much.

Jeff,

We were forwarding the site but that broke down after switching to dealer.com. Should be fixed soon.
